Abstract
Public Relation is an important factor in running an organization. Public Relations has the role of maintaining and solving a problem that is being experienced by an organization. This study examines how the PR management issue of the South Sumatra Provincial Government in responding to news in the media about forest and land fires. Issues management strategies can be seen from how PR responds to existing issues. In this study explains how the Public Relations respond to an issue circulating in the community. This research also shows how steps are taken in responding to the issue. The theory used in this study is the theory of issue management strategies by Chase and Jones where there are 5 dimensions including the issue of identification, issue analysis, strategy selection, action and evaluation. This study uses a qualitative method approach in which the research procedure will produce descriptive data in the form of words or oral results from using in-depth interviews with six informants. Data collection in this study was carried out by observing to see firsthand how the Public Relations of the South Sumatra Province responded to the issue. In addition there is also documentation in the form of photos of interviews with informants and existing activities. The results showed that PR has implemented a good issue management based on the five dimensions, this can be proven by decreasing the issue in circulation.
