Abstract
The Government of the Republic of Indonesia is currently focusing on infrastructure development as evidenced by the significant growth of the construction services industry by around 30% over the past three years. The development program must be supported by the application of OSH so that its implementation does not cause work-related accidents and diseases. Based on data from the Ministry of Public Works and Housing and Social Insurance Administration Organization of Labour, the construction sector is the largest contributor to work accident rates, namely 32%. In realizing the success of infrastructure development, one of which is the KayuAgung - Palembang – Betung Section 2 Toll bridge project on the Ogan River in South Sumatra, therefore this study aims to determine the extent of the implementation of OHSMS and what strategies need to be implemented to reduce the number of work accidents in order to realize security and safety in the work environment on construction projects. The type of research conducted is descriptive research with a qualitative approach whose purpose is to find, prove, and develop data obtained in the field. Primary data collection is done by distributing questionnaires to respondents. Respondents came from Occupational Health and Safety Committee members, amounting to 8 people who were selected based on non-probability methods using a purposive sampling approach or sampling with certain considerations. Data analysis was carried out with the help of the SPSS 22 program. Based on the results of the analysis conducted, it can be seen that the implementation of OHSMS reached 89.91% of which the assessment criteria met in accordance with Government Regulation No. 50 of 2012. The strategies considered by the respondents were most effective in reducing the risk of occurrence workplace accidents in construction projects are improving competence and training for workers. In addition, the cultural approach and mindset of workers and employees at the construction project sites are also considered very effective because in general the workers carry out their duties based on habits and experience, so they often neglect the importance of maintaining and implementing occupational safety and health in construction sites.
