Abstract

Hypertension is a condition of someone who has increased blood pressure above the normal 130/80 mmHg. In the province of South Sumatra Hypertension occupies the 2nd of the top 10 diseases. Sabokingking Puskesmas with the highest number of hypertension sufferers in Palembang. Hypertension is a disease caused by many factors called also multiaktoral diseases. The purpose of research is to know the risk factors associated with the incidence of hypertension in the work area Sabokingking Puskesmas. The study uses a cross-sectional study design with a quantitative approach. The sample used is the community in the work area Sabokingking Puskesmas with an age range of 18-40 years and > 40 years as many as 55 respondents were selected Accidental Sampling. Univariate and bivariate data analysis. This research shows the average respondent suffering from hypertension (138,91/87 mmHg). Results of bivariate indicate there is a significant relationship between age variables (p = 0,028; PR = 4,500) and variable sodium consumption (p = 0,000; PR = 11,143). Unrelated variables in this study are gender (P = 0.199), family history (P = 1.000), obesity (P = 0.157), smoking (p = 0.268), alcohol consumption (p = 1.000), fat consumption (0.865) and physical activity (P = 0.495) and (P = 0.978). Conclusion is a relationship between age and sodium consumption with hypertensive events. It is recommended that people reduce the consumption of salty foods that contain high sodium, maintain diet, and increase motivation to conduct checkups as early as possible and routine treatment for patients with hypertension.
