Abstract
Nutritional problems of stunting occurs almost throughout the territory of Indonesia and does not only occur in the group of poor people, but also experienced by households that are not poor or be in the top 40% rate of risk of poverty social and economic. This study was conducted to see the relationship characteristics of sociodemographic with the incidence of stunting in children under five with the economic level of the parents medium to the top in the City of Palembang. This research is Quantitative research with the approach of the design cross-sectional. The population in this study is a toddler 24-59 months in the City of Palembang with a sample of 97 toddler. The sample in this research taken by purposive sampling. The method of analysis used to see the relationship is to use the chi-square test . The results of the research show the proportion of stunting in infants with the economic level of the parents medium to the top in the City of Palembang was of 20.6%. The results of the analysis indicates each independent variable has a P-value > α (0.05). There was no significant relationship between the characteristics of sociodemographic with the incidence of stunting in infants with the economic level of the parents medium to the top in the City of Palembang. More research needs to be done to investigate other factors that are suspected as risk factors for the incidence of stunting, one of which is environmental factors, infectious diseases and pattern of care of nutrition in children under five.
