Abstract

This thesis is entitled ”The Role of Female Heads of Household (PEKKA) in Educating Children in Pasar Muaradua Village, Muaradua District, OKU Regency, South Sumatra Province”. The problem taken in this study is how the role of female heads of household in instilling religious values and norms in children, how the role of female heads of household in the growth and development of children and the obstacles faced by female heads of household in educating children. This research is a qualitative research using descriptive method. Data collection techniques carried out by observation, in-depth interviews and documentation. The results of the study indicate that the role of female heads of household in instilling religious values and norms in children is shown by introducing and teaching religion to children from an early age and the formation of religious personality through behavior, while the role of female heads of household in the growth and development of children is shown by providing intake nutritious food to children and Pay attention to child development from birth to adulthood. In general, the role of female head of household is the same as other mothers / wives, the difference is only a matter of time, female head of household has more time to work than focusing on educating children, whereas mother / wife in general has more time with children because working or earning a living is a task and husband's function. The obstacles faced by female heads of household in educating children are divided into two, namely the constraints of female heads of households working in the public sector and obstacles of female heads of households working in the non-public sector. The tendency of obstacles in educating children is more visible in female heads of households who work in the public sector which includes lack of time with children, difficulty in dividing time, work piling up and children are not obedient. Whereas for female heads of households who work in the Non-Public sector there is only one obstacle, namely the obstacle in educating children because they are not with their husbands.
