Abstract

This study aims to determine whether there is a relationship between personality trait neuroticism and fear of missing out on emerging adulthood. The hypothesis of this study is there is a relationship between personality trait neuroticism and fear of missing out on emerging adulthood in Palembang City. This study used 200 emerging adulthood that lives in Palembang as the participant. Sampling is done by using purposive sampling technique. The study measurements are fear of missing out scale that refer to the definition from Przybylski et al. (2013) and personality trait neuroticism scale that refer to the aspects of neuroticism from Mccrae and Costa (2003). Hypothesis testing is done by using pearson product moment. The result of correlation shows the coefficient value (r) is 0,531 with p = 0,000 (p<0,05). This means that there is a positive and significant relationship between personality trait neuroticism and fear of missing out. Thus the proposed hypothesis is accepted.
