Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the transmission mechanism of monetary policy through the bank lending channel in Indonesia by using a Vector Error Correction Model (VECM). The variables used in this study are BI Rate/BI 7 Days Rate Repo, bank loan, GDP, and Consumer Price Index (CPI) with the data period from January 2010 to December 2019. The results show that the bank lending channel plays an important role in transmitting monetary policy to GDP and CPI in Indonesia. The estimation shows that bank loan responds negatively to changes in monetary policy through the BI Rate. Meanwhile, bank loans have a positive and significant effect on output and price.
