Abstract

Indonesia it self records about 58,256 cases of breast cancer deaths each year. There were 957cases of breast cancer in South Sumatra in 2018 and 772 cases in 2019. This will greatly affect the quality of life of cancer patients, the better the quality of life of cancer patients, the more influential the healing and treatment process will be. Quality of life can be a consideration for prevention before and after disease appears. One of the factors affecting the quality of life is family support.Therefore, this study aims to determine the relationship between the role of the family and the quality of life of breast cancer patients at Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang. This research is a quantitative study withmethod cross sectional. The population in this study were all breast cancer patients in Dr. Mohammad Hoesin with a sample size of 105 respondents. Data analysis was performed using univariate analysis, bivariate analysis usingtest chi-square and multivariate analysis using logistic regression test. The results of the bivariate analysis showed that there was a significant relationship between the role of quality of life p-value (0.002). The results of multivariate analysis showed that the influence of family roles on quality of life was controlled by variables of age, duration of illness and income (PR: 19.961 95% CI 2.289- 166.747). It can be concluded that the role of family is very influential and has a relationship with the quality of life of breast cancersufferers.
