Abstract
Background: Pneumonia is defined as an inflamation of the lung parenchyma including respiratory bronchioles, and alveoli because of infection. Antimicrobials prescription become the main therapy as a causal therapy to the pneumonia-causing bacteria, appropriate antimicrobials prescription has also been shown to reduce mortality rate significantly. The aim of this study are to know the distribution of pneumonia-causing bacteria and to know the antimicrobials sensitivity patterns. Method: This study is an descriptive observational to identify pneumonia-causing bacteria in hospitalized patients and its antimicrobials sensitivity patterns at RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang. The data in this study were from medical records submitted to the clinical laboratory of RSUP Dr Mohammad Hoesin Palembang to obtain culture results and antimicrobials sensitivity patterns. Obtained a total of 172 growing samples. Result: Most pneumonia-causing bacteria in hospitalized patients at Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang, namely: Klebsiella pneumoniae (26.6%), followed by Acinetobacter baumanii, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa, respectively 25% and 15.1%. K. pneumoniae sensitive to amikacin (97,3%), tigecyline (94,7%), ertapenem (91,7%), and meropenem (86,1%), but has develop resistance on beta lactam’s antimicrobial such as ampicillin (100%), cefazolin (71,4%), ampicillin + sulbactam (71%), ceftriaxone (68,4%), dan ceftazidim (60,5%). A. baumanii has a high sensitivity to tigecycline (89,5%) and amikacin (78,4%), but has high resistance level on cefazolin (100%), nitrofurantoin (87,5%), and aztreonam (81,8%). P. aeruginosa, sensitive to gentamicin (86,4%), amikacin (90,9%), ciporfloxacin (81,8%), meropenem (72,7%), and aztreonam (72,7%), but has a high resistance to tigecycline (100%), sulfamethoxazole/trimethoprim (100%), ceftriaxone (100%), cefazolin (100%), ampicillin (100%) dan ampicillin + sulbactam (100%). Conclusion: K. pneumoniae, A. baumanii, P. aeruginosa, has a good sensitivity to amikacin, however, the three bacteria have vary levels of resistance to other antimicrobials.
