Abstract
Potential studies of bioethanol production from substrate microalgae Oscillatoria sp. has been done. Oscillatoria sp. cultured in two media namely Bold Basal and Blue Green 11. Most of the biomass obtained from Blue Green 11 media as much as 0.676 g, while at Bold Basal media is 0.482 g. Based on analysis of sugar content from Oscillatoria sp. was obtained in the form of maltose. Bioethanol production was conducted by fermentation process using Saccharomyces cerevisiae with hydrolysate and non-hydrolysate substrates. Yield ethanol was analyzed using gas chromatography. Based on chromatogram data analysis, it was concluded that optimum yield ethanol was obtained from hydrolysate substrate Oscillatoria sp. Bioethanol obtained from hydrolyzed substrate microalgae Oscillatoria sp. 0.143 mL/g and 0.496 mL/g were cultivated in Bold Basal and Blue Green 11 media. Whereas 0.018 mL/g and 3.59 mL/g were obtained from nonhydrolyzed microalgal biomass cultivated in Bold Basal media and Blue Green 11. Bioethanol production from microalgae Oscillatoria sp. has low potential with small percentage yield. The yield ethanol obtained from Bold Basal cultivation media 7% (Hydrolysis) and 8% (Nonhydrolysis). Yield percentage from Blue Green 11 media obtained 23% (Hydrolysis) and 6% (Nonhydrolysis).
