Abstract
Pabrik Asam Stearat direncanakan berlokasi di daerah Tj. Lago, Kab. Banyuasin, Sumatera Selatan. Pabrik ini meliputi area seluas 3,558 Ha dengan kapasitas 22.000 ton per tahun. Proses pembuatan Asam Stearat dilakukan dengan proses splitting trigleserida di dalam reaktor fat splitting (R-01) pada suhu 240 oC dan tekanan 44,412 atm. Serta dengan menghidrogenasi top product keluaran R-01 pada reaktor (R-02) pada suhu 160oC dan tekanan 10,207 atm dengan reaksi sebagai berikut : Reaksi Hidrolisis : Trigleserida + H2O → Fatty Acid + Gliserin Reaksi Hidrogenasi : Asam Oleat + H2 → Asam Stearat Asam Linoleat + H2 → Asam Stearat Pada R-01, trigleserida di konversi 99% menjadi fatty acid dengan produk samping gliserin, lalu reaksi selanjutnya berlangsung di R-02 yang berfungsi mengkonversi fatty acid dimana asam oleat dan asam linoleat yang terkandung didalam fatty acid dikonversi menjadi asam stearat dengan konversi 100%. Produk yang didapatkan dari R-02 masih belum murni, sehingga dilakukan proses pemisahan dan pemurnian untuk didapatkan asam stearat dengan kemurnian tinggi. Perusahaan berbentuk perseroan terbatas (PT) yang dipimpin oleh seorang Direktur Utama. Sistem organisasi perusahaan adalah line and staff dengan total karyawan 141 orang. Total Capital Investment (TCI) mencapai US$ 80.428.383,1893. Rate of return on investment yaitu 44,63 %. Break Even Point yaitu 37,93 %. Berdasarkan analisa ketersediaan bahan baku, kebutuhan dan manfaat asam stearat, proses, kebutuhan utilitas, lokasi, susunan organisasi dan ekonomi, maka pabrik asam stearat ini layak didirikan.
