Abstract

Background: Information and communication technology has developed very rapidly. The rapid development of technology has made the internet a communication tool that is very popular with the public. Social media is a media that is identical to the internet which functions to socialize between individuals online (online). The use of social media among teenagers can have both positive and negative direct effects. One of the negative effects of social media is cyberbullying. Cyberbullying can affect the psychological, behavior and health of victims in the form of depression. This study aims to determine the effect of cyberbullying on students of 2 Senior High School of Lubuklinggau. Method: This study used a quantitative method, with a cross sectional design (cross sectional) in the form of a questionnaire on the impact of cyberbullying on adolescent depression. This study uses a sampling technique. The sampling technique used is random sampling, with the technique of taking samples from members of the population that is done randomly. Results: The results of this study showed a correlation between Cyberbullying and depression in adolescents in 2 Senior High School of Lubuklinggau. This is based on the calculation of the results of the correlation test, the correlation coefficient value is obtained = 0.463 with a value of P = 0.00 <0.005, meaning that the statistical test results show that there is a significant correlation of cyberbullying to depression on adolescents in 2 Senior High School of Lubuklinggau with moderate interpretation. Conclusion: The influence of internet technology as a means of communication in the form of cyberbullying on moderate-strength adolescents in 2 Senior High School of Lubuklinggau based on depression variables, the prevalence of adolescents experiencing severe depression and mild categories.
