Abstract

Background. Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs) is a pain that is felt during work or physical activity. One of work environment’s factors that can cause Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs) is ergonomic risk factors which consists of posture / work attitude, repetition of work, and length of working time. This study aims to see the relationship of ergonomic risk factors from manual handling activities at PT. MT with Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs) perceived by workers. Methods. This study used cross-sectional design, with the measuring instruments used REBA worksheets and Nordic Body Map. The sample of this research is 94 manual handling workers at PT. MT Pulogadung branch, East Jakarta who have been selected by simple random sampling. Results. 84% of 94 respondents experienced Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs). Bivariat analysis of age p-value 0,01, years of service p-value 0,00, and ergonomic risk p-value 0,001 indicated significant associations with Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs). Multivariat analysis shows years of service p-value 0,027 (OR 5,349; 95%CI 1,206-23,722) and ergonomic risk p-value 0,003 (OR 9,394; 95%CI2,189-40,315) are the risk factors of Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs). Conclusion. Respondents with moderate to high ergonomic risk, old age, and longer years of service have greater likelihood of Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs) than those with low ergonomic risk, young age, and shorter years of service.
