Abstract
Fruit Brucea javanica (L.) Merr (fruit Makasar) has been widely used by Borneo people to various diseases, such as diarrhea, body heat and tumors. The activities of polar fraction B. javanica fruit from West Kalimantan is still very limited. The aim of this study is to determine the cytotoxic activity of the non-polar fraction B. javanica from West Kalimantan on breast cancer cells T47D. Fruit Brucea javanica (L.) Merr. taken from Karihun Betung National Park, West Kalimantan used in this study. Breast cancer cells used is cell line T47D. B. javanica fruit chloroform extract was fractionated using Vacuum Liquid Chromatography (KVC). Non-polar fraction obtained cytotoxicity test performed with MTT assay method. Used as the standard drug doxorubicin. The results showed that the fraction of non-polar of B. javanica cytotoxic activity of 63.32 ± 2.35 pg / mL, lower than with doxorubicin at 38.29 mg / mL. Group of compounds contained in the non-polar fraction B. javanica fruit is terpenoids.
