Abstract

This study discusses the neutronic design of type PWR that can generate power of 500 MWt based on thorium and MOX. The calculation of neutronic fuel cell and reactor core has used module PIJ and CITATION in the program package SRAC JENDL.3.2. Parameters of targets design that is level burnup, convertion ratio, unlimited multiplication factor (kinf), atomic density and effective multiplication factor(keff). Determination of design criteria of efficiency in terms of fuel consumption is done by comparing multiple design variation of volume and composition fuel cell. Based on the results of calculation, the design has a high efficiency in terms of fuel consumption is a core with the size of the radius in 100 cm and high in 300 cm with a volume persentation a thorium 64%, MOX1 17%, MOX2 9,25%, MOX3 9,75% obtained a value (keff ≥ 1) with average excess reactivity 5,5% and refueling time more than 10 year.
