Abstract
Back ground. Preeclampsia is a condition where the blood tension is above 140/90 mmHg for the first time after 20 weeks of gestation. There are two sub-types of preeclampsia based on onset disease which are early-onset preeclampsia in gestation period <34 weeks and late-onset preeclampsia in gestation period ≥34 weeks. Decreased utero placental blood flow in preeclampsia causes a lack of oxygen and nutrients for fetal growth. The prevalence of early-onset preeclampsia is less, but the rate of perinatal morbidity and mortality is heavier than that for late-onset preeclampsia. The purpose of this study was to determine the characteristics of perinatal outcomes in mothers with preeclampsia and the relationship between the onset of preeclampsia and perinatal outcomes. Method. This research used a cross sectional research design, with observational analytic research type and consecutive sampling research method. The sample in this research was the medical record data of preeclampsia patients who gave birth at RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang for the period January 1 2018 – 31 July 2020. The data analysis used binary logistic regression. Result. There were 274 cases of preeclampsia, the prevalence of early-onset preeclampsia cases were 30.8% and late-onset preeclampsia cases were 67.2%. There was a statistically significant relationship between preeclampsia with fetal mortality inside the womb and premature infants (p< 0.05), where the risk of fetal mortality in utero were 7.696 times bigger than the late-onset. In the early-onset preeclampsia, the risk of giving birth to premature infants increased 3.959 times. Meanwhile, there is a statistically non-significant between preeclampsia with low birth weight, neonatal asphyxia, intrauterine fetal growth, fetal distress, and the baby being treated in the intensive care room (p> 0.05). Conclusion. In this research, the perinatal outcome for early-onset preeclampsia is worse than the late-onset preeclampsia. Keywords: Preeclampsia, early onset, late onset, perinatal outcome
