Abstract
The increasing need of the Indonesian people for electricity makes various kinds of power plants that use fossil fuels increase, and cause several adverse effects such as reduced fossil energy, and increased pollution arising from the use of fossil energy. Power plants that use alternative energy become one of the best solutions, such as solar cells, geothermal power plants, wind power plants and so on. Indonesia is one of the countries that has the largest sea area, this makes a big enough potential to develop one of alternative energy power plant that is a sea wave power plant. One of the best types of ocean wave power plants is the use of Oscillating water Column method, that works by the pressure in the oscillation chamber so that the pressure pushes air out through the turbine pipe and causes the turbine to rotate so that the turbine's rotation also turns the shaft generator and produce electrical current. This method is simulated by making a prototype of a sea wave power plant with a dimension of 0.25 m x 0.48 m, and with a 12V voltage DC generator placed at the top of the chamber. From this prototype, resulting wave power of 2.8876 watts, 2.1689 watts, and 1.0395 watts. And also obtained the generator output power of 1.84 watts, 3.77x10-13 watts and 0 watts.
