Abstract
The aim of this study is determining the role of personality trait (extraversion, agreeableness, conscientiousness, neuroticism, and opennes-to-experience) toward grit among students who feel wrong majoring at Unsri. This study hypothesis that there is a role for extraversion, agreeableness, conscientiousness, neuroticism, and opennes-to-experience toward grit among students who feel wrong majoring. Participants in this study were 150 students who felt they had misdirected in majoring at Unsri. Technique purposive sampling were used in this study. The measuring instruments used is the grit scale which refers to the aspects of Duckworth, Peterson, Matthews, and Kelly (2007) and the BFI standard scale which has been adapted by Ramdhani (2012). analysis of research data using multiple linear regression analysis method. The result showed that conscientiousness (β = 0,468, p = 0,000) has a role toward grit among students who feel wrong majoring. The result showed that personality trait conscientiousness has a positive and significant role toward grit. Whereas, the result of extraversion personality trait (β = -0,033, p = 0,703); agreeableness (β = 0,729, p = 0,108); neuroticism (β = -0,878, p = 0,062); opennes to experience (β = -0,058, p = 0,537) showed that there is no significant role toward grit among students who feel wrong majoring. The conscientiousness personality trait gives the greatest contribution to grit among students who feel wrong majoring.
