Abstract

Proper feeding at the first two years (0-24 months) of a child’s life includes early initiation of breastfeeding, exclusive breastfeeding and appropriate complementary feeding is essential to ensure the growth and development that determines the children’s quality life. Proper feeding practices are influenced by mother’s knowledge and attitudes. Improvement of knowledge and changes of attitude in mothers can be obtained through the provision of health education by various methods, one of which is by simulation game methods. The purpose of this study was to determine the influence of Team Game Tournament (TGT) on the mother’s knowledge and attitude in child feeding aged 0-24 months. The type of quantitative research used pre experimental design with one group pretest posttest approach. Sampling techniques used total sampling and obtained the sample of 32 respondents. Data collection method used questionnaire. Data analysis using marginal homogeneity test for knowledge and mc nemar test for attitude. The results showed that TGT had a significant effect on increasing mother’s knowledge with p value of 0.000 (p<0.05) and mother’s attitude 0.001 (p<0.05). TGT can be recommended as one of the media in providing health education by simulation game method of accuracy in child feeding.
