Abstract
Being a part of social community, our life always has relationship with economic activities. Bank which is one of financial institutions probably has an important function. By doing those economic activities, the society will choose healthy economic activities (banks). A healthy bank can guarantee all its economic transactions or economic acts in serving its customer. If we want to know the condition of a bank, we can analyze it by using bank performance analyzing system. Bank performance analyzing system is a qualitative value result from some indicators which influence to the condition or performance of bank with quantitative and qualitative method of analysis to some factors such as Capital, the quality of assets, management, earning and liquidity. Those factors are always called CAMEL. The purposes of this research are to analyze and evaluate the performance of PT. Bank Pembangunan Daerah Sumatera Selatan and PT. Bank Pembangunan Daerah Lampung by using CAMEL approach from 2003 to 2006. This thesis uses secondary data which is collected from each banks directly. The data is bank financial statement such as balanced statement, income statement, ATMR and the other external secondary data. The research finding is during period 2003-2006, the financial performance at PT. Bank Pembangunan Daerah Lampung is relatively healthier than PT. Bank Pembangunan Daerah Sumatera Selatan. It can be seen from the total average score from each of that banks. Those scores show that how is the performance of bank especially its healthy which refer to Bank Indonesia decision. The higher total average score is 93,2 which is gotten by PT. Bank Pembangunan Daerah Lampung whereas the total average score of PT. Bank Pembangunan Daerah Sumatera Selatan is only 91,43. So, the conclusion is PT. Bank Pembangunan Daerah Sumatera Selatan is more potential to be the healthier bank. In order to improve the performance of PT. Bank Pembangunan Daerah Sumatera Selatan in the future, the writer recommends that managements of that bank has to take strategy actions soon.
