Abstract

This research examined phenomenon of high level of West Senuro Village society’s interest to perform hajj whereas the majority of society’s job are low–income rubber farmers. The method used in this research was qualitative descriptive. Data collection techniques were based on observation, interviews, and documentation, also using an analysis tool of Anthony Gidden’s structural theory. The result of this research shows that there were some motives behind society’s decision to perform hajj worship. There were unconscious motives, discursive consciousness and pratical consciousness. Meanwhile the social structure encourage rules in form of hereditary traditions and resources consist of allocative in form of rubber and authoritative in the form of religious leaders and family. So, it can be conculded that the implementation of hajj worship was driven by the presence of agents and structures in the village that formed duality in social practice that were repetitive and patterned in space and time.
