Abstract

This study aims to determine the cultural values in the tradition of thanksgiving at the Serunting Sakti Tomb which is located in Pelang Kenidai Village, Dempo Tengah District, Pagar Alam City. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data collection techniques used in this study are documentation, interviews, and observations. The validity test of the data used includes credibility test, transferability test, dependability test, and confirmability test. The data analysis technique used was data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The number of informants in this study were 8 people, including 1 village head, 2 tomb administrators and 5 people in Pelang Kenidai Village. In addition, there are also 2 supporting informants in this study, namely the people who have done the tradition of thanksgiving at the Serunting Sakti tomb. Based on the results of data analysis that has been carried out, it can be concluded that the cultural values in the tradition of thanksgiving at the Serunting Sakti Cemetery in Pelang Kenidai Village, Pagar Alam City are divine values, brotherhood values, and harmony values. The value of brotherhood in the tradition of thanksgiving can be seen when families, neighbors and other people present prepare the tradition of thanksgiving by cooperating or doing mutual cooperation so that the event can be carried out properly and according to plan. Then, there is also the value of harmony in the implementation of the tradition of thanksgiving at the Serunting Sakti tomb in the form of an association of large families and neighbors and other communities as a means to maintain and strengthen ties to make it better between families, neighbors and other communities.
