Abstract

Lahat Regency is one of the largest coffee producers in Indonesia, which is precisely located in South Sumatra Province. Coffee is one of the plantation commodities which has an important role in economic activity in Indonesia. Coffee is a plantation crop that has been cultivated for a long time and is a commodity that makes a positive contribution to the trade balance for agricultural commodities. The role of coaching activities is very much needed to increase the productivity and income of coffee farmers. The purpose of this study was to determine the differences in productivity between for assisted coffee farmers and non-assisted coffee farmers and to analyze and determine the differences in the income of assisted coffee farmers and non-assisted coffee farmers. This research was conducted in Sumber Karya Village, Gumay Ulu District, Lahat Regency. Determination of the location of the study was done deliberately (purposive sampling location). The research data collection was conducted in August 2020. The data collected were primary data and secondary data. The research method used is a survey method. The results of the study can be concluded that there is a significant difference between the productivity of assisted coffee farmers and non-assisted coffee farmers, while there is an insignificant difference between the incomes of cultivated coffee farmers and non-assisted coffee farmers. This is because the coffee farmers who are being coached produce organic robusta coffee, which has a higher price than the price of regular robusta coffee. Where the price of organic robusta coffee ranges from IDR 70,000 to IDR 75,000, while regular robusta coffee ranges from IDR 40,000 to IDR 45,000. So that with a low level of productivity, the assisted farmers can still generate higher income.
