Abstract
The research objective was to determine the role of parents in increasing students learning motivation and the obstacles experienced during the online learning process during the covid-19 pandemic at SD IT Nurul Iman Palembang. This study use descriptive qualitative method. Data collection techniques in this study consisted of 10 parents of grade III students and the sample was determined using random sampling techniques. The results showed the role of parents in increasing the learning motivation of students, namely by accompanying childern during online learning, giving attention, providing and completing learning facilities properly to registering children for tutoring. In addition, parents also give appreciation to children and do not give punishment to children when they get bad grades but by giving a warning. All parents help children when the child has difficulty learning online and if the parents feel unabel to help the child, the parent asks the tutor to help him. There are obstacles in the online learning process, namely students who are getting bored, not disciplined in time, lack of moral or character education from the teacher, and for students who have working parents must complete their tasks when parents finish work and the obstacles experienced by parents are parents job are marginalized.
