Abstract

This study aims to find out the influence of the number of blades and the type of material on the machine chipping. This research was conducted from October 2020 to April 2021 at the Workshop of Tools and Machinery department of Agricultural Technology, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University, Indralaya, South Sumatra. The method used is a Factorial Randomized Block Design (FRBD) with two research factors, namely the number of blades (A) and the type of material (B) with three levels of treatment and each combination of repeated treatments three times. The parameters of this study are the working capacity of the machine, Efficiency of Management, and Uniformity of the results of chipping. The results of this study showed that the treatment of the number of blades and types of materials had a real effect on the effective capacity of the machine, the efficiency of the aircraft and the uniformity of the stoning results. For the highest effective capacity value of the machine is found in the combination of the treatment of the number of blades three blades and the type of potato material (A2B1) which is 12.45 kg / h. For the most chipping efficiency is a combination of the treatment of the number of blades of two blades and the type of cassava material (A1B3) which is 97.87%. And for the average percentage of the combination of uniformity treatment resulting from 0.5 mm to 0.8 mm in diameter, the most is the combination of the treatment of the number of blades and the type of cassava material is 59.85%.
