Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the need for agricultural machinery and equipment to support the development of paddy farm business in Tanjung Lago Sub-District, South Sumatra Province. This research was conducted from February 2021 to March 2021 at the BPP (Agricultureal Extension Agency) of Tanjung Lago Sub-District. The descriptive method was used in this study with the tabulated presentation. The parameters used in this study are the development of the number of alsintan and the adequacy level of agricultural machinery and equipment in Tanjung Lago Sub-District. The result showed that the calculation of agricultural machinery and equipment at Tanjung Lago sub-district was in the very poor category because the need for Agricultural machinery and equipment was higher than the equipment adequacy. In 2020 the adequacy level of rice transplants is 140%, which is in the higher category. The adequacy level of 2-wheel tractor falls into the very poor category with a percentage value of 65%. The adequacy level of 4-wheel tractor and combine harvester is in the very poor category with a percentage value of only 18% and 26%, indicating that the availability of agricultural machinery in Tanjung Lago District is not sufficient to meet land needs with a rice field area of (15,226) hectares.
