Abstract

This research examined community perceptions of kuda lumping art at Pulau Semambu Village Indralaya Utara District Ogan Ilir Regency. This research aimed to find out knowledge, interests, experiences, and also hopes that affected the perception of Pulau Semambu Village community on kuda lumping art. Qualitative descriptive method was used in this research. Observations, interviews, and documentations were data collection techniques used by the researcher. The concept of perception from Robbins was analysis tool used in this research. The result of this research showed that society’s perceptions of kuda lumping art in Pulau Semambu Village differed based on their interests, experiences and hopes. Kuda lumping traditional art originating from Java is well received in Pulau Semambu Village as an interesting and entertaining of art. Key Words: Perception, Kuda Lumping Art, and Community
