Abstract

Food is an important commodity for human life. One of the food commodities that is the dominant foodstuff in almost all Asian countries is rice. The main factors that affect the high level of rice consumption are the large population and the wider area that makes rice the main staple food. The objectives of this study are: (1) To determine the socio-economic conditions of consumer households during the Covid-19 pandemic in Air Satan Village, Muara Beliti District, Musi Rawas Regency. (2) Analyze the amount of household rice consumption based on different income levels during the Covid-19 pandemic in Air Satan Village, Muara Beliti District, Musi Rawas Regency. (3) Analyze the factors that affect the amount of household rice consumption during the Covid-19 pandemic in Air Satan Village, Muara Beliti District, Musi Rawas Regency. The research location is Satan Air Village, Muara Beliti District, Musi Rawas Regency. The sampling method used was a disproportionate stratified random sample method with a sample size of 45 respondents. The results of this study indicate that: (1) the socio-economic conditions of the respondents are dominated by consumers in the late adult age group of 35 to 45 years, male, with a dominant number of household members, 1-4 people, type of work of labor / farm, and final elementary education. (2) The results showed that the average household rice consumption was 68.4 kg / capita / year and 252 kg / Rt / year. (3) Factors that have a positive effect are gender, number of household members and occupation, while factors that have a negative effect are age of household members, while factors that do not affect rice consumption are education level, low and middle income. As for the variable or factor that has the most dominant influence is the number of household members. Keywords: Factors affecting consumption, Consumption of rice.
