Abstract

Nutrition labels on product packaging are nutritional value information that aims to assist consumers in choosing products that are healthy and according to their needs. Lack of public attention in reading nutritional labels on packaged products can have a negative impact on health, one of which occurs among adolescents. This study used a cross sectional research design. The sample of this study was 176 high school adolescents. Data analysis techniques were univariate and bivariate. The data is presented in tabular and narrative form to interpret the data. The results of the univariate analysis showed that 32,4% of respondents obeyed reading the nutritional value information labels. The results of the bivariate analysis using the chi-square test showed that there was a significant relationship between parents' income, knowledge and motivation of adolescents with the behavior of reading nutritional value information labels. Meanwhile, there is no relationship between gender and the importance of product prices on adolescent behavior in reading nutritional value information labels. Researchers suggest that SMA Negeri 1 Kayuagung students be more reminded of their reading behavior on nutrition labels and seek more information about nutritional value information labels.
