Abstract

This study examines the welfare of fishermen. The welfare of fishermen in Baai Island, Bengkulu City. The population in this study were fishermen in Baai Island, Bengkulu City. The research sampling method used "simple random sampling" with a sample of 100 people. The analysis technique in this research is descriptive qualitative using Susenas health indicators. The results showed that the income indicator was categorized as low but not poor based on the average income above the poverty line. The indicators of condition and housing facilities are categorized as permanent and semi-permanent. Health indicators that are measured from the number of sick family members are categorized as good family health conditions because the majority of fishing family members are less than 25 percent who are sick. The transportation facility indicator is categorized as good due to the availability of easy-to-reach means of transportation and the low cost of public transportation and vehicle ownership. As well as aspects of health and education services that are categorized as easy even though the distance is relatively far to the hospital and school. Meanwhile, based on household consumption and expenditure, it is categorized as low and not prosperous when compared to the average consumption and expenditure of urban households, both eating and non-food.
