Abstract

The objective of this study is to reveal and analyze the performance development of yam spinning in Indonesia. The data used in this study is the secondary data in the period of 1990-2010. The Method used in analyzing the data is descriptive qualitative method by presenting various tables and charts of labor value added, efficiency, and productivity. The value added of this industry in this period increase continously. In the periods of1990-1997 this industry had realatively the lowest value added due to the relatively few industries and labors. After 1998 monetary crisis, Indonesia experienced tough economic timesy national unemployment rate jumped, and the govemment cariied out industrial relation coaching program and labor protection to open employment opportunities and reduced the number of unemployment in that crisis. Increased and improved The efficency development fluctuated and could not be considered efficient due to efficiency <1 with the average efficiency value obtained in the periods of 1990-2010 w as only 0.45. productivity development w as fairly good and increased year byyear but occasionally the re w as a negative growth in 199 f 1993, 1997, 2003, 2007, and 2010. In other words, among the 21 years of observation, 8 of them experienced negative growth.
