Abstract

Manufacturing machine is the most widely used process in any type of metal cutting or chip machining, it is known that the heat generated during the process is an important factor affecting the performance of the cutting tool. The mechanical energy required for the chip formation is converted into heat, then the cutting temperature is in the primary deformation zone and the secondary zone. The temperature depends on the material of the boring tool, the material of unit, and the process parameters such as cutting speed, cutting depth, chip angle, and the movement. High temperature can influence the damage of cutting equipment. Cryogenic can reduce the heat generated by friction of workpiece and boring tool. Cutting fluid used in metal cutting process uses SCCO2, the temperature is below -80o (Rahim et al.,2016) to absorb the heat on chip. Therefore it is necessary to analyze the effect of chip distribution using titanium with SCCO2 coolant uses autodesk simulation mechanical 2016 software and to determine boundary condition to the given load. Based on the simulation results, the value of temperature at the chip during the process of titanium. Ti-6Al-4V at the length of 20mm uses boring tool Tungsten Karbida, where the angle 10o generates the temperature 547oC and the final temperature -43,4oC on the chip formation with conduction calculation Heat Source 22,40 W. The chip angle 10o needs 20 seconds with analysis the type of transient heat transfer.
