Abstract

The purpose of these study are: (1) describe the characteristics of households that consuminate rice in Kayu Agung City, Ogan Komering IlirRegencyt after the determination of Highest Retail Prices, (2) analyze perceptions of households of rice in Kayu Agung City after the determination of Highest Retail Prices, (3) calculate the amount consumption of household rice in Kayu Agung City, after the determination of the Highest Retail Price, and, (4) analyzing the relationship between household perceptions of the amount of rice consumption and the frequency of rice consumption in Kayu Agung City. This study was conducted in October 2018 on Kayu Agung City, Ogan Komering Ilir Regency. The research method used is the survey method, while the sampling method used to examine household perceptions is done accidentally with a sample of 36 samples with taking place in one market, namely in the market of Kayu Agung City. The data collected in this study consisted of primary data and secondary data. The results of this study to show that the characteristics of consumers of rice in Kayu Agung City are, among others, on average age of 44 years, the work of consumers is mostly self-employed, with an average income is below Rp 2.600.000 per month, the average elementary and high school education level, the average amount of family members of each consumer is 4 people in one house, the gender that dominates the purchase of rice is women and the average frequency of consuming rice is 2 times per day. Household perceptions of rice consumption measured from 5 indicators, namely: the quality of rice, the type of rice, the location of purchase of rice, packaging, and premium rice after the determination of HET are in good criteria with a total score of 65.26. The average household consumption of rice is 6.6 kg per week, with the average frequency of household consumption of rice being 76 times per month. There is no relationship between household perceptions of rice consumption with the amount of rice consumption and frequency of rice consumption in Kayu Agung City, Ogan Komering Ilir Regency.
