Abstract

Photovoltaic is a tool for converting solar energy into electricity that is pollution-free and environmentally friendly, so it is necessary to carry out further research in developing new / renewable technologies. The disadvantage of the performance of the photovoltaic panel when receiving solar radiation will increase the temperature of the photovoltaic panel but reduce its efficiency. To overcome this, this study uses a perforated aluminum plate that is placed behind the photovoltaic panel as a cooling system with a variation of the diameter of the holes 10mm, 12.2mm and 15mm. With the dimensions of the plate size of 96 cm x 60 cm x 2 cm with the number of holes 1515. The specification of the Photovoltaic Panel is 102 cm x 7 cm x 3 cm, it is a polycrystalline type with a maximum power of 100 WP as many as 4 units. The results showed that the photovoltaic panels that were cooling with perforated aluminum plates had a higher efficiency than panels that were not given perforated plate cooling. This can be seen from the lowest efficiency value of 4.071389% which is obtained from solar panels without perforated cooling plates and the highest is 31.12837% which is processed from solar panels using 15 mm perforated cooling plates.
