Abstract

The aim of this study was to obtain information about the types of trigona species (stingless bees) that live in several different habitats. This study use descriptive method with tecnique of purposive sampling based on exploration, samples were collected from the field and identification is done by observing its morphological characters. Samples were collected from three different habitats, such as at Sriwijaya University has vegetation habitat among others, guavawaters, cherry, mulberry, acacia, coconut, and cassava. In Aurduri village has vegetation habitat among others rubber, oil palm, banana, and mango. Aas well as in the Kota Agung has vegetation habitats such as cotton, avocado, chocolate, and coffee. The result of study is three species of trigona bee were found and obtained from three different habitats. Three species consist of three subgenuses, namely Tetragonula subgenus, Heterotrigona, and Lepidotrigona. Species of each subgenus is Tetragonula laeviceps, Heterotrigona itama, and Lepidotrigona terminata. The result of this study can be used as Biology teaching materials on senior high school.
