Abstract

Background: Every student who experiences a heavy lecture load can experience anxiety, for example, students of the Medical Education Study Program, Faculty of Medicine. Students who experience excessive anxiety will greatly affect learning outcomes. Self-efficacy is a belief in one's own ability to carry out a task to achieve goals and produce something that is expected and very influential on anxiety. This study aims to determine the relationship between self-efficacy and anxiety levels of first-year students of the 2020 Medical Education Study Program at the Faculty of Medicine, Sriwijaya University. Methods: The research was analytic observation with a cross sectional approach and the research variables were self-efficacy and anxiety levels. The sample of this study was the first year students of the 2020 Medical Education Study Program FK Unsri who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria with a total sample of 131 students and were analyzed using the chi square test with the Kolmogrov Smirnov alternative. Results: From 131 research samples, 121 students (92.4%) experienced mild anxiety with low self-efficacy as many as 21 students (16%) and moderate self-efficacy 100 students (76.3%), while 10 students (7.6 Other %) experienced moderate anxiety with low self-efficacy as many as 6 students (4.6%) and with moderate self-efficacy as many as 4 students (3.1%) and obtained a p value of 0.032. Conclusion: There is a relationship between self-efficacy and anxiety levels of first-year students of the 2020 Medical Education Study Program at the Faculty of Medicine, Sriwijaya University.
