Abstract

Potato plant (Solanum tuberosum L.) normally cultivated in Andisol with relatively high soil fertility. Planting potato in the pottery (polybag) is easier to cultivated, especially in the dry season where the sprinklers have to be done continuously. The past study in 2020 proved that the treatment that given to Andisol for cultivaed the potato plant had the unreal effect, so that the potato plant can be cultivated in the post-harvest soil. The augmentation of organic cocopeat mulch to the post-harvest soil can decrease the evaporation process and also can improves the potato plant productivity. The purpose of this study is to see the effect from cocopeat mulch, vegetable post-harvest soil and their combination to soil water level, soil organic matter, N levels of soil and also the growth and the production of potato plant such as plant’s height, branch quantity and the volume of potato tuber. This study used a factorial randomized block design method with the first treatment is the post-harvest soil from tomato, chili and carrot plants and the second treatment is cocopeat mulch 150 g polybag-1 (0,38 cm), 250 g polybag-1 (0,63 cm) dan 350 g polybag-1 (0,88 cm) with three times repetition. The result of this study indicate that cocopeat mulch with weight and thickness differences and also the using of post-harvest soil relatively had an unreal effect to all observed variables, while the combination between the chili post-harvest soil and cocopeat mulch 250 g polybag-1 (0,63 cm) was the best treatment to increase the potato plant’s height, branch quantity and also the volume of potato tuber.
