Abstract

A sense of comfort, peace, and prosperity will lead to harmony in the family environment, especially for children. But on the other hand, if a family does not have a sense of peace and prosperity, it will cause a lot of commotion and also disputes, then there will be quarrels and will end in a divorce. This study aims to be able to find out and understand the role of divorced families in implementing problem focused and emotional focused coping strategies for adolescents who are broken home to do, Next is to find out what is the background of divorced families to do problem focused and emotional focused coping strategies. in adolescents with broken homes in the city of Palembang. This study uses qualitative research methods, therefore the nature of the research is descriptive, that is, it does an in-depth description of the situation or problem to be studied. Qualitative research does not attempt to test hypotheses or does not make hypotheses as initial assumptions, because there are no hypotheses proposed in qualitative research. The results of this study are the role of the family in the implementation of coping strategies varies. Some family roles are the same and some are not. Family has a strong influence on individual development. The position of the family in problem focused and emotional focused coping strategies is to provide positive social support, so that it can help the teenager easily face any problems that occur.
