Abstract
The synthesis of layered double hydroxide Zn/Fe and Ni/Fe has been done with ratio (3:1) by coprecipitation method. Layered double hydroxide were characterized using XRD analysis, BET and XRF. Layered double hydroxide Zn/Fe and Ni/Fe is used for adsorbent of hydrogen gas. The characterisation of Layered double hydroxide Zn/Fe and Ni/Fe using XRD analysis showed that at 2θ value at 10º and 60º layered double hydroxide is interlayer distance are 5.737 Å and 1.499 Å for Zn/Fe and 7.749 Å and 1.531 Å for Ni/Fe. The result of BET analysis, surface area for Zn/Fe was 2.8834 m2/g and 13.3448 m2/g for Ni/Fe. The result of XRF analysis showed the percentage of composition metal Zn/Fe 94.81 % and Ni/Fe 93.7 %. The value of hydrogen gas adsorption by layered double hydroxide Zn/Fe at optimum pressure 2 bar, at 120 minute reaction, optimum weight adsorben 1g and optimum size adsorben 200 mesh was 0.104 %. The value of hydrogen gas adsortion by layered double hydroxide Ni/Fe at optimum pressure 3 bar, at 120 minute reaction, optimum weight adsorben 1g and optimum size adsorben 200 mesh was 0.15 %. Layered double hydroxide Zn/Fe and Ni/Fe is less effective for hydrogen storage because the adsorption power produced is below 1 %.
