Abstract

In the wood furniture industry sector, can not be separated from the suwing process and the process of shrinkingwood which produces dust which becomes a pollutant for workers. IVood dust is a particulate compound which can causerespiratory problem to workers if it enters the pulmonary fimction disorders. This research was conducted 10 analyzeexposure to wood dust. This study used a cross sectional design with cluster random sampling method with a lotal samplenf 70 respondents from 37 locations of wooden furniture. Data were collected through interviews and directmeasurements. The data collection tools used were questionnaires. Hazdust EPAM 5000 and spirometer. The results ofthis study are that there is an influence between wood dust content with a p-value of 0,044 (p < a), years of service with a p-value = 0,022 (p <a), and the use of personal protective equipment with a p-value = 0,003 (p <a), while the variable age p-value = 1,000 (p> a), exercise habits p-value = 0,661 (p> a), and smoking habits p-value = 1,000 (p> a) did not show a significant relationship statistically. The results of the multivariate analysis showed that there was a significantrelationship between the use of personal protective equipment on lung function disorders. (p-value 0,028; PR = 4,602; 95% CI = 1,176-18,009). It is recommended that business owners carry out periodic health checks on furniture workers,and using personal protective equipment when workes.
