Abstract

Public diplomacy is part of a diplomacy that has a variety of tracks. It explains that public diplomacy activities that bind the public will be necessary needed in fulfilling the activities of conventional diplomacy. The United States government, in carrying out their public diplomacy, sent professional athletes and various organizations that specialize in sports to assist the public diplomacy program. This research uses a method of qualitative descriptive research aimed at providing an idea and explanation of the subject being studied. The results show that the Sports Envoy Program, which is part of the U.S. public diplomacy instrument, is capable of effective strategies in disseminating its cultural values, as well as cultivating tolerance and respect for each other, as well as one of means to influencing public opinion and positive image for the United States. Thus, the Indonesian people in particular can recognize the United States better, and in this case its positive image will become more and more known to the entire population of Indonesia.
