Abstract

This research aims to determine the effects of the Telegram-based blended learning model on the ability to write short stories of class XI students of SMA Negeri 1 Rantau Panjang. This research used a quasi-experimental method with true experimental design as part of the Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design. The sample of this research consisted of 2 classes, namely class XI.MIPA.1 with 35 students as an experimental class using the Telegram-based Blended Learning model and class XI.MIPA.2 with 35 students as a control class with the Telegram-based conventional model. The test given was an initial test before being treated and a final test after being treated using the Telegram-based Blended Learning model. The data collection technique used a test technique, namely the writing skill. Meanwhile, the data processing used was a t-test calculation using the SPSS 25 program. The results showed that there were differences in the test results between the experimental class and the control class. The average score of the initial test of the experimental class was 66.57, which increased to 83.94 in the final test. It showed an increase of 17.37. The average score of the control class initial test was 63.69 and increased to 72.74 in the final test. It showed an increase of 9.05. The results of data analysis by t-test showed that the significance (2 sides) p = 0.000<0.05 (95% of a significant level). It showed a significant effect on the ability to write short stories in class XI of SMA Negeri 1 Rantau Panjang. Thus, Ha stated, "there is a difference in the ability to write short stories between students who are taught using the Telegram-based Blended Learning model and students who are taught using the Telegram-based conventional model" was accepted. It could be concluded that the Telegram-based Blended Learning model has more influence on the ability to write short stories for class XI students of SMA Negeri 1 Rantau Panjang.
