Abstract

This study discusses "Barriers to Intercultural Communication in Society". This research was conducted in Panji Jaya Village, Peninjauan District, Ogan Komering Ulu Regency. The data in this research are primary data and also secondary data obtained through observation, interviews and documentation. The data obtained were analyzed using a qualitative descriptive analysis method. This study uses the Concept of Intercultural Communication Barriers according to Barna. There are two types of informants in this study, namely key informants and supporting informants. The results of this study indicate that the barriers to intercultural communication that occur in Javanese, Ogan and Balinese ethnic groups in Panji Jaya village include several barriers such as language differences, non-verbal interpretation errors as well as stereotypes and prejudices.
