Abstract
Workplace clusters are the largest contributor to COVID-19 cases in South Sumatra. To protect the safety and health of its workers, various COVID-19 prevention policies are implemented in the workplace. In addition to concerns due to the virus itself, policies that experience sudden changes in intervention and the number of regulations that must be applied can make employees depressed and uncomfortable during work which will cause stress to the workers and cause their performance to decline. The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between the concerns about COVID-19 and implementation of COVID-19 prevention policies in the workplace on the work performance of the South Sumatra Provincial Health Services in 2021 with work stress as an intervening variable. This research is a quantitative study with explanatory research design. The sample of this research is the employees of the South Sumatra Provincial Health Office amount 78 people with the sampling technique using accidental sampling. The data analysis used is path analysis. The results show that concerns about COVID-19 have a positive and significant effect on work stress, COVID-19 prevention policies have a positive and significant impact on work stress, concerns about COVID-19 have a negative and significant impact on work performance, and COVID-19 prevention policies have a negative and significant effect on work performance, work stress has a negative and significant effect on work performance, work stress mediates the effect of concern about COVID-19 with work performance and work stress mediates the effect of COVID-19 prevention policies on work performance. The South Sumatra Provincial Health Office could integrate a prevention-based public health model with Total Worker Health (TWH) and Occupational Health Psychology (OHP) based approaches to propose a range of primary, secondary, and tertiary interventions targeting different groups of employees with varying exposure risks.
