Abstract
In the Health Profile of the City Health Office, Palembang ranks first as the city with the most active dental and oral services. The number of children who need dental care is in the highest position with more than 40 thousand children. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of providing dental and oral health animation video media on the knowledge and attitudes of children aged 9-12 years in Palembang City. This study uses a quantitative approach with the type of Quasi Experimental research. Sampling using the Purposive Sampling method by setting criteria for the sample. The sample criteria are able to read and write, have parents/family and are willing to be respondents. Data were collected using pre-test and post-test questionnaires as well as 3D animation video media for the intervention group and sparkol animation for the control group. Questionnaire to measure children's knowledge and attitudes. The total number of respondents is 120 children (with a ratio of 1:1). Univariate results showed that the results of knowledge in the intervention group had good knowledge (100.00%) and good attitudes (94.17%). In the control group, they have good knowledge (98.33%) and good attitude (96.67%). In bivariate results, knowledge in the intervention group (0.000) and control group (0.000) performed the Wilcoxon test because it was not normal (<0.05) and attitudes in the intervention group (0.452) and (0.144) and control (0.611) and (0.127 ) perform the Paired t-test because it has a normal value (> 0.05). The conclusion of this study is that the media has a role in changing children's knowledge and attitudes. The research suggestion is that further researchers can develop the media and questions (questionnaires) used in order to get even better results.
