Abstract
Along with increasing population growth, developments in the development sector will also increase, such as houses and buildings. This process will greatly affect the need for cement use. However, in the use and use of cement, it still has many shortcomings, such as the production of CO2 which is still relatively high, has a heavy weight, and the use of materials that are not environmentally friendly which can increase the greenhouse effect and global warming. As for one way to overcome and reduce the occurrence of this is to use alternative materials that are environmentally friendly is to use waste paper. Besides being able to reduce CO2 production, the use of paper waste is expected to help the cement binding process to be stronger and become a new cement mixture innovation. Paper waste is treated with a water immersion duration process for 1 day, 3 days, and 5 days, then the mechanical synthesis process using milling and chemical heating is carried out by heating the paper for 2 hours each with a mixture of 10% NaOH and 2% NaClO respectively. alternately washed so that the pH returns to neutral when it is dry, then grinded for 30 minutes. Then after that the paper waste was tested by XRD and FTIR tests where the XRD test results showed the highest amorphous levels were found in samples with 3 days of immersion concentration with levels of 88.639% and the lowest was in 5 days samples with levels of 76.367%. From the FTIR test, the average sharp peak of the sample wave 1 day, 3 days, and 5 days is 1022.2 cm- 1. while the sharp peak of the wavelength of cement is 872.45 cm-1.
