Abstract

This study aims to determine the stimulation of the field of cognitive development by parents to children aged 5-6 years during the COVID-19 pandemic. With quantitative descriptive research methods. The sample in this study were children aged 5-6 years in Srijaya Village, amounting to 17 people using purposive sampling technique. Data collection techniques are closed questionnaires and direct interviews with the children's parents. The technique of data analysis using the calculation of the percentage of research shows that 63.16% have been able to learn new things, develop memory, imagination and complete simple problem solving skills in children well according to the theory of stimulation in the field of cognitive development. The results of the study as a whole obtained several categories of respondents' scores. The indicators that are most often stimulated in the field of cognitive development by parents to children are in learning new things 65.68% of children, indicators of simple problem solving abilities in children 64.21%, the percentage of indicators developing memory is 63.23% of children. Meanwhile, the percentage on the lowest indicator is Completing Completing simple problem solving skills in children and Imagination 59.55% of children. With details as many as 13.23% of children are in the Always (SL) category, 60.29% of children are in the Frequent (SR) category, 26.46% of children are in the Sometimes (KK) category, and 0% of children are in the category Never (TP). For this reason, it is recommended for further research to focus more on the Imagination indicator.
