Abstract
Substation is a part of the transmission system in the distribution of electric power. The electric power transmission system can experience many disturbances, therefore protecting the substation is the most important part of the electric power transmission system. To be able to protect the transmission system, one of the main protection systems used is the distance relay. The distance relay will work by measuring the voltage at the relay point and the fault current seen from the relay, by dividing the magnitude of the voltage and current, then the impedance to the point of the disturbance can be determined. In order to cover the protected area and work reliably, the range of work of the distance relay is divided into 3 zones, namely zone 1, zone 2, and zone 3 with different reactions and setting times. In this final essay the type of disturbance that occurs is based on the recorded data, namely 1-phase to ground fault located in zone-1 with disturbance distance is 10,6 km from GI Keramasan. The results of the impedance calculation values that are calculated manually using the impedance method are: Zone-1 = 1,075547 Ω, Zone-2 = 3,340935 Ω, and for Zone-3 = 5,860924 Ω with an error percentage value of 0,135% for Zone-1, for Zone-2 it is 106,7% and for Zone-3 it is 99,691%. Then for the value of the calculation of the location of the disturbance and the percentage of error obtained a value of 10,588774 km and the percentage of error is 0,105906%.
