Abstract

Introduction: The Sequential Organ Failure Assessment (SOFA) score was developed in 1994 by the European Society of Critical Care Medicine (ESCCM). The SOFA score is essentially six organ systems including the respiratory system, kidneys, liver, heart, coagulation, and central nervous system. SOFA score is important to predict the prognosis and patient’s final outcome when discharged from the intensive care unit. Based on previous studies, it has been revealed that the SOFA score is a scoring system that can be used to predict patient mortality in the ICU. Methods: This research is a descriptive study with cross-sectional approach. The samples used in this study were all medical records of noncovid-19 patients who were treated in GICU at RSUP dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang period from January to July 2021 based on inclusion criteria. Results: The SOFA score had a cut-off point of >5.5 with a sensitivity value of 63.9%, specificity 84.7%, positive predictive value 69.6%, negative predictive value of 81%, positive likelihood ratio 4.17, negative likelihood ratio 0.43, and an area under the ROC curve ( AUC) 0.802 in predicting mortality of GICU patients at RSUP dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang period from January to July 2021. Conclusion: The SOFA score has a very good accuracy in predicting patient mortality in Intensive Care Unit at RSUP dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang period from January to July 2021.
