Abstract

Background: The current COVID-19 pandemic is still a big problem in Indonesia and even in the world. Efforts made by the Indonesian government in preventing an increase in confirmed cases of COVID-19 are the imposition of restrictions on activities outside the home, including online learning processes, This makes the duration of using the device increase and the occurrence of eye fatigue. Eye fatigue is a problem that is usually caused by the hard work of the eyes exposed to the monitor screen for a long time and at close distances. Method: The type of research used is analytic observational with a cross-sectional design using primary data obtained from a self-administrated questionnaire via google form. The instrument used to diagnose eye fatigue is the Visual Fatigue Index questionnaire which has been tested for validity and reliability. Results: Based on 210 respondents, who use devices that are not up to standard are 189 (90%). Based on the Fisher exact test statistical test, it was found that 96.3% of respondents experienced eye fatigue with a duration of using a device that was not up to standard and as many as 42% of respondents experienced eye fatigue with a duration of using a device according to the standard.
